Training

Newmarket Model Flying Club aims to provide a friendly, safe environment for its members to enjoy their model flying. This includes the provision of training for those new to the hobby.

As set out in the Club Rules, only those members with a BMFA 'A' Certificate (or higher) are allowed to fly solo. Beginners and Novices are required to fly under the direct supervision on one of the instructors listed below. Once an instructor is happy that a Beginner has mastered the basics, that member becomes an Improver and may fly under the supervision of any experienced club member. In addition to practicing their flying, Improvers should seek the assistance of a club examiner with a view to preparing for, and taking, an 'A' Certificate test.

The club offers Training sessions for members during the summer months (May to September). They are open to all members but their primary purpose is to give new members and beginners the opportunity to fly knowing that instructors and experienced members will be present to help out.

The club offers one evening session (17:30 – 20:00) per week and two Sunday sessions (10:00 – 14:00) per month.
The provisional dates of the Sunday sessions are:

2nd and 16th May
6th and 20th June
4th and 18th July
1st and 15th August
5th and 19th September

Weekday evening sessions will be planned for Tuesdays but will be moved to a later day in the event of poor weather or other, unforeseen, circumstances.

All sessions take place at the West Row site.

All Training sessions are posted on the club Flying Calendar; members wishing to attend are required to sign in to the sessions they wish to attend.
This document explains how the process works.
